What's new in Dynamics NAV 2018?

Building on the functionality of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 which provided embedded Power BI, seamless in Office 365 experience, faster set up, built-in Cortana Intelligence, improved automation with PowerApps and Flow, simpler management of Jobs and easier organisation of item attributes, NAV 2018 further supports all areas of your business:

  • Pre-configured Microsoft Excel reports.  Within the Business Manager and Accountant role centres, there is a new option in the Excel Templates ribbon – users can choose pre-configured reports (balance sheet, income statement, cash-flow statement and more), that are ready to print from Microsoft Excel.
  • No more bottlenecks to cashflow with bulk posting of orders, invoices and credit memos.  If there has been a rush on sales, and finance may struggle to keep up with processing –  NAV 2018 can help by allowing batches of orders, invoices or credit memos to be processed in one go using the “Post Selected” feature.
  • Flexible and on-the-fly posting to general ledger from documents. Sometimes an additional fee or service isn’t in your item catalogue which causes frustration when preparing sales or purchase documents; finance users benefit from the ability to add these on their document lines and post the revenue to the correct general ledger account in Dynamics NAV 2018 from the document.
  • Keeping the momentum with user tasks.  Great for managers and individuals to follow up on meetings, activities or set recurring tasks to ensure responsibilities are not missed and form part of the day-to-day.  Tasks can be created for yourself or assigned for someone else when delegating actions.
  • New features in Dynamics NAV 2018 helps streamline sales processes and collaboration.  The working relationship between sales, marketing, procurement and finance is made easier with new functionalities in NAV 2018.  Users can get sales orders from Dynamics 365 for Sales with write-in products transferred to Dynamics NAV.  Each product can be mapped to a specific item of resource in Dynamics NAV 2018.  Manual intervention is not needed when converting sales orders from Dynamics 365 for Sales to Dynamics NAV, this can be done automatically. 
  • Allowing personalisation of users’ workspace directly in the web client.  Personalisation is enabled in Dynamics NAV 2018 by default for all.  It’s simple to get started, the Personalise menu item under the user’s sign-in avatar in the upper right corner, as changes are made they are immediately saved and only seen by that user, regardless of device. 
  • Previewing reports on multiple supported browsers in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018.  A report can be previewed (using the new PDF Viewer control) directly in the NAV web client (not just in Internet Explorer) by selecting the Preview button on report request pages. 
  • Dynamics NAV Universal App runs on even more devices – including HoloLens.  When you run the latest Universal App update on Windows, NAV can run on Microsoft Hololens and team collaboration devices such as Microsoft Surface Hub.
